PNG
Use PNG for interface graphics, screenshots, diagrams, and images that need transparency or crisp edges. It is lossless, so detailed photos can produce large files.
The best image format depends on what the picture contains and where it will be used. A photograph, a transparent logo, and a print archive have different needs.
Vignar’s image converter can export PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, and a single-page PDF. It can also resize, rotate, flip, center-crop to dimensions you provide, adjust brightness/contrast/saturation, and add a text watermark. Select a format on the image wheel, add one or more images, review the preview, and download the converted copies.

Use JPEG for photographs and broad compatibility. It is a lossy format and does not preserve transparency; transparent areas are rendered on white.
These formats can reduce image size for the web. Viewer support varies by software and device, and lossy export can change fine detail. Keep the source if maximum fidelity matters.
Often used by phones for compact photos. HEIC decoding and encoding use browser-side codecs, so large files can take time and older devices may run out of memory.
Useful in imaging and print workflows. This tool decodes the first image page/frame of an input TIFF; specialized TIFF variants may not decode in every browser.
A broadly understood but usually large bitmap format. Vignar writes a 24-bit BMP, so transparency is flattened against white.
PNG, WebP, and some AVIF workflows may retain transparency, depending on the source and browser codec. JPEG, HEIC, BMP, and PDF output use a white background. Converting an animated GIF to a still-image format exports a still frame, not the original animation. The converter does not preserve camera metadata in the exported copy.
For lossy formats, compare the preview and file size at different quality settings. A lower file size can mean visible compression artifacts, especially around text and sharp edges. Resize only when you know the display or print dimensions. Enter both width and height to use the center crop; otherwise, entering one dimension keeps the image proportions. The maximum requested edge is 8,192 pixels.
PDF output places the converted image on a single PDF page sized to the image. It is a raster picture inside the PDF, not editable or searchable text. For a multipage document, use a document or PDF tool instead.
The tool processes files locally in the browser and does not intentionally upload them to a Vignar server. See the Privacy Policy for information about site hosting and third-party services.
